Your Well Being Tip of the Day

Your Well Being Tip of the Day Reducing TV time by 30 minutes each day will give you the equivalent of 4 1/2 forty hour workweeks of free time each year! That’s a lot of free time to follow your heart’s desires.

A Bread Affair: BC’s only Certified Organic Artisan Bakery

A Bread Affair I’ve fallen in love with a loaf of bread! I didn’t know that was possible and yet there’s no question - it’s a love affair with bread affair. My favourite loaf, hands down is the 100 Mile Bread. All ingredients come from within 100 miles of Vancouver and it’s made with blueberries, organic hazelnuts, sprouted wheat and lots of love. Oh my goodness. Yowzaaa! There just aren’t words.

Bread Affair makes hand crafted, organic artisan breads. They make bread the same way that bakers perfected their craft 100, 500 and even thousands of years ago. And it shows in every loaf.

The bread is delivered fresh daily to several stores and it’s often found at various Farmer’s Markets throughout the summer as well. Or you can visit their store directly. Believe me, you be glad you checked them out.

Very Berry Frappe

Serves 8

3 cups frozen berries (raspberries, blueberries or strawberries)
3 cups (720 ml) silken tofu
1/4 cup soy or rice milk
1/2 - 3/4 cup maple syrup

Blend all the ingredients in a food processor until smooth. Taste for sweetness. Raspberries will need more sweetener than blueberries or strawberries. Serve at room temperature or chill in glass bowls before serving. Beautiful garnished with a mint leaf.

Fresh Food and Farmer's Markets - One of my Favourite Things!

Farmer's Market One of my favorite spring and summer things to do is journey to one of our local farmers markets on a Saturday morning. At first I went for the fresh food, the low prices and to support our local farmers and economy. Then I discovered how much fun the market’s are.  Farmers’ Markets’ have their own culture and most are full of treats for the senses including musicians, singers, and artists to entertain, specialty coffees, tasty hot meals, and a palpable sense of contentment, good will and joy among the buyers and sellers alike – yes, it really is a positive vibe!  And then there’s all that fresh produce, meats, cheeses, herbs, teas, jams, breads, etc, etc. All I can say is “Yum!”.

So, if you haven’t been, I suggest giving one a try … you could ask around in your neighborhood, at your local health food store, or Google to find one near you. For Vancouver Farmers’ Markets, here are your options: http://www.eatlocal.org/  Bon appétit.

Healthy Home Tips

Tip #1
Open a window whenever you can to let in some fresh, cleansing air. The air outside is cleaner (even if you live in the city).

Tip #2
Buy nightlights, alarm clocks and other bedroom electronics that are illuminated with red light, which is less disturbing to melatonin production than white or blue light.

Tip #3
Cut down on the wrinkle-free clothing materials. Five minutes of ironing in the morning will prevent a lifetime of ingesting dangerous chemicals (through your skin).

Tip #4
If you are cleaning with products that you wouldn't eat, wear gloves!

Tip #5
Instead of using an aerosol freshening spray, mist your room with real citrus scent. Simply pour a few drops of orange, lemon or lime essential oil into a spray bottle of water.
